Monologue /
SCene STudy

Instructor: Annie Coulson

Private lessons.
Contact to arrange.

  • In these lessons, we will discover the art of shaping a story within your monologue or scene. How does the moment before inform the moment we are seeing? How do we respond to the invisible partner within a monologue performance or gain a deep emotional connection with our scene partner? What changes within the character over the course of the monologue or scene? What drives the piece and what do the stakes build to? Acting is the art of storytelling and every performance comes down to the telling of the most interesting story via the constructs of the text. Dive deep and and go beneath the surface to find out what is driving the characters in a scene. What can we infer by reading “between the lines”, about not just what the characters are saying and doing, but ‘why’ they are saying and doing those things? Learn to identify the underlying forces moving the character and the narrative. Learn to bring something alive and truly valuable to your performances. No experience necessary!
